Chris Lydon's "Professional" Portable Radio Studio

Check out Chris Lydon's "Professional" Portable Radio Studio. Last class, I gave you audio CDs of his Blogging of the President (BOP) News radio program from January 2004. So, radio is getting cheaper to produce and more portable. And using the web, audio has the potential to reach an even wider distribution (or a more narrow one, depending on how you look at it).

But, as you can tell from the audioposts we've attempted, something seems to be missing. Audioblogging is not radio, it is something different. Let's see if we can come up with a set of rules, standards, or Do's and Don'ts that might make audioblogging more interesting, enjoyable, or more effective for web distribution.

Bloggers are not Journalists

David Weinberger's video reaction to his experience as a blogger-con-credentials at the Democratic National Convention provides interesting insight into the difference between bloggers and journalists.

This High-culture vs. low-culture debate is one that rages with the emergence of any new medium (read: threat to the status quo). In music, recall the birth of Jazz, Rock, and Hip Hop. In art, the emergence of photography, cinema, and now video games. The Internet is fast becoming a viable source for news and information, and bloggers in particular appear to pose a threat to the old-gaurd of Mass Media.

Where have you seen this High-culture vs. low-culture debate? Share some of your thoughts and experiences.

dominiqueName: Dominique
Age chronologically speaking 20, physically maybe 16 and mentally an old lady j/k
I don't really like to talk about my self. But for the purpose of you getting to know me, I can say this. I am easy to get along with, funny but never on purpose, athletic, intelligent, shy yet outspoke at times. A movie fanatic, especially when it comes to westerns, action, and japanese animation. I also read alot, romancce and horror mostly.
